McLaren, Fernando Alonso: “An excellent Friday”
The Spaniard achieved the 7th time in FP1 and 6th in FP2
The rain, which characterized FP1 and FP2 of the Australian Grand Prix, allowed Fernando Alonso to obtain a seventh and sixth time. However, on the sidelines of the two sessions, the Spaniard admitted that without particular weather conditions, McLaren is destined to fall back in the standings.
"We had a positive day, but tomorrow with a dry track we won't be so high – declared the two-time world champion – . Of course I can only be satisfied, because the weekend started in the best way. We still have to evaluate all the components, including the brakes and ground clearance. Because in the last free practices we did most of the session on a wet track. But the car didn't have any problems and this makes us feel positive for tomorrow and Sunday".
"In the pre-season tests you can lap a lot and everything goes perfectly – said the Spaniard –. But then, when you're on track in the first free practice, there can be some surprises. Luckily, in our case, the surprise was positive".
