Mercedes hopes to have Vettel at McLaren in the future

Mercedes-Benz is interested in having Sebastian Vettel behind the wheel of McLaren in the future. This was admitted by Norbert Haug, head of sporting activities for the German brand and Vettel's compatriot. The appreciation came after Vettel's second victory who dominated the race with Red Bull in China. The German is under contract with the energy drinks company until the end of next year.

"Afterwards we'll see, maybe one day he will lead a silver arrow," he told the German newspaper Bild. Vettel also has links with BMW which brought him to his Grand Prix debut, at Indianapolis two years ago, to replace the injured Robert Kubica. Part of the deal with BMW requires him to drive an M5 on the road.

"At the moment I see him fighting for the championship," said seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
