Formula 1 | Renault, Hulkenberg happy with Ricciardo's arrival: "he will be able to give us a big hand"
"We will be able to use his experience to set up the car," added the German
Interviewed by Auto Motor Und Sport, Nico Hulkenberg spoke about the arrival of Daniel Ricciardo in Renault, underlining how the Australian could offer a big hand to the team in terms of knowledge and setting of the car.
The former Red Bull driver, in fact, will bring all the secrets linked to the Austrian Scuderia into the Enstone factory, an aspect that could help the French team close the gap with Ferrari and Mercedes seen until the end of last season.
An important resource, strongly desired by Cyril Abiteboul, on which Renault is strongly banking for what concerns the future.
Here are the words of Nico Hulkenberg: “We pilots are not engineers or even aerodynamicists. Daniel, for sure, can't tell us how to build something, but he could give us some feedback on the installation of some components and the Red Bull systems. Ricciardo's arrival in the team is a real breath of fresh air and I think we will be able to take advantage of his experience when setting up the car."
On the values for next season he added: “With the new front wings no one yet knows the values at stake. This is not a reboot, but a simple reset of the rules. Clearly we are a manufacturer and our goal is to get closer to the top, but at the same time we are aware of how we need to close a gap of almost two seconds. It took Ferrari and Mercedes some time to get to the top and we are carrying out the exact same work."
