Formula 1 | Red Bull, Lawson after the Abu Dhabi test: “Nothing compares to this car”

Liam Lawson had the great opportunity to take part in an entire day of testing with a Formula 1 car. The New Zealand driver was in fact chosen by Red Bull for the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi on the RB18. 111 laps were completed by the young man, who set the fastest time in 1:26.281. A great opportunity also to share the garage with both Verstappen and Perez, who took turns in the other car to test the 2023 tyres.

“Days like yesterday are very important – Lawson said. There is very little Formula 1 testing so track time is precious and I thank the team for allowing me to drive and remain in next year's development programme. For me it's very important, it's so different from any other car I've driven. We move from the junior categories to prepare, but there is nothing comparable. The test sessions went very well and after a full day in the car I feel much more comfortable and I hope to have more opportunities like this in the future."
