Formula 1 | McLaren congratulates Alonso after victory at Daytona: “Epic driving”
The Spaniard won the 24 Hours together with Kamui Kobayashi, Jordan Taylor and Renger Van der Zande
In a tweet published yesterday evening on the team's official channels, McLaren congratulated Fernando Alonso on his sensational victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona, defining the Spaniard's driving as absolutely 'epic'.
The two-time World Champion, we remember, managed his night stint to perfection, gaining the lead of the race together with Kamui Kobayashi, Jordan Taylor and Renger Van der Zande, his teammates. During the early hours of the morning, however, the adverse weather conditions above Florida stopped the race several times, making the final stints real challenges.
Despite the pressure, the rain and the proximity of Felipe Nasr, second in the ranking, Nando managed to take the checkered flag in first position, achieving a success that was extremely important for his career.
