Formula 1 | Alfa Romeo, Vasseur satisfied: “We made some good decisions”

In a chat given to the newspaper Auto Bild, Frederic Vasseur spoke about the growth carried out by the Alfa Romeo team in recent weeks, underlining how the indications in terms of development are absolutely positive, especially after the technical package presented shortly before the last summer break .

Despite the wasted opportunities in Belgium and Italy, in fact, the Team Principal of the Italian-Swiss team highlighted the excellent competitiveness of the car, an aspect that allowed the drivers to often reach Q3. An important result that confirms the quality of the technical project, especially when compared to that of last season.

The objective, precisely in this sense, will be to continue along this path, so as to match the performances of McLaren and Renault over the next few months.

“Last year we were 2.6% behind, while this year the gap has decreased to 1.6%,” said Frederic Vasseur. “All this shows that we made the right decisions. The midfield is very competitive in this championship, but we have been in Q3 with at least one car in the last six races. Talk about a good sign."

On his goals for the future he added: “Obviously we are targeting McLaren and Renault. Next year we will build a car with this year's base and if we finish this season on a high note, the bulk of the work for 2020 will already be done."
