Force India: Perez, “A great qualifying session”

Qualifying for Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix saw Sergio Perez qualify in fifth place with teammate Nico Hulkenberg in 12th place.

“It was definitely a great qualifying session and the team did a fantastic job to give me such a competitive car. After the problems we had in the first two races, I feel that this was the first real opportunity to show the potential of the car. I think we could have been even closer to the top, but I wasn't able to warm up my brakes enough on the launch lap on my final lap in Q3 and so I didn't improve. We are already thinking about tomorrow and I think my goal should clearly be to aim for the podium. We are in the best possible position. I have some great memories of this track, but I want to create even better ones tomorrow.”

“My lap in Q2 wasn't the best, I made a mistake at turn 11 and went wide on the exit curb, which completely ruined my lap and I lost a couple of tenths which made the difference for Q3 . I believe in the possibility of a good result tomorrow and I feel optimistic. We showed on Friday that we have good pace in the long run and I have two new sets of soft tires for the race. Strategy decisions for tomorrow will be important to help me move forward and with the cooler conditions it should be easier on the tires than in Malaysia.”
