Fernando Alonso: “We must concentrate our efforts on aerodynamics”

The Spanish Ferrari driver experienced another difficult weekend. In China, Fernando Alonso only crossed the finish line in seventh place.

“I had a bad start and Felipe managed to overtake me and a Force India was almost doing the same, then there was a good battle on the first lap. After the first pit stop I lost too much time behind Michael, thus losing contact with the leading group. I found myself fighting with him at the end of the race, with positions reversed: there was a good duel here too but I would have preferred to do it for the podium rather than seventh place. Unfortunately, we had too slow a race pace and I don't think that if we had had a different strategy, things would have changed. I've had better Sundays in my career but that doesn't make me discouraged or lose confidence. We know we have to improve to be up there: McLaren and Mercedes have done it and there's no reason why we can't do it too. It's clear that aerodynamics represents our Achilles' heel at the moment and that's where we need to work most. Eight days ago in Malaysia we saw some encouraging signs, this was not the case here: the car is identical while others have made steps forward.”
