F1 | Williams, Russell will start on the sixth row in Portimao
"Our best qualification of the last three years," said the Englishman
George Russell is definitely happy after qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix. The Williams driver finished in eleventh position, one step away from what would have been a historic Q3 given the complicated last years of the historic Grove team. After the bang in Imola, the Englishman redeemed himself with a great performance, and tomorrow he will try to conquer the points zone, which he only just missed on the Santerno track.
“It was a great performance – said an elated Russell. I didn't expect to get into Q2 after this morning's free practice, let alone get eleventh position. We did our best when it really mattered. It's our best qualifying position in the last three years, I'm really proud of it. We all did a great job as a team. Now let's think about tomorrow: the car works well on long runs and is fast on the straights, let's see what we can do."
