F1 | Barcelona test: Bottas confirms himself as the fastest

The first day of testing on the Barcelona circuit ends on a high note for Mercedes. Valtteri Bottas had already been the fastest this morning and improved further in the afternoon, setting a 1.15.511 (with the C5 compound, which is the softest). Bottas precedes Charles Leclerc and Danil Kvyat. Followed by: Hulkenberg, Gasly, Sainz, Fittipaldi, Yelloly, Vettel, Norris, Perez, Liot and Latifi.

It was an afternoon where there were no important data to report. Sebastian Vettel did not improve his time, but the German was busy testing the 2020 Pirelli tires all day (as was Sergio Perez).

The session was interrupted twice: the first, due to Callum Liot's (Alfa Romeo) bad accident at turn 3. The Formula 2 driver crashed violently into the barriers but fortunately there were no consequences. Subsequently, everyone stopped due to the red flag displayed following the stop of Pierre Gasly's Red Bull: his RB15 stopped on the finish line. The teams that completed the most laps on this day are Red Bull (117), Mercedes and Williams (110).

As for Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque did well today, exchanging first position with Bottas on several occasions during the morning session. In the afternoon he improved his time at the end, but not enough to win the first day.
