F1 | Renault, Sainz talks about the problems that slowed him down in Australia

It wasn't an easy Australian Grand Prix that Carlos Sainz Jr. experienced two weeks ago, struggling with various problems that forced him to grit his teeth to be able to complete the race in Melbourne. A malfunction in the system that allows the pilot to drink in the car he had in fact weakened the Spaniard, creating very strong nausea, so much so that he almost vomited during the race. Despite stomach problems, Sainz managed to complete the race in the points, limiting the damage.

During the weekend of the Bahrain Grand Prix Sainz returned to the victory, explaining how a banana eaten in the pre-race created further problems during the race: "The valve that manages the water bottle on the car was open, so I couldn't do it Nothing. The water kept coming out and added to that banana that I had eaten before the race which tasted terrible. I only took a few bites but it gave me digestion problems and together with the water that was in my stomach due to the problem with the bottle on the car, I couldn't digest it." Sainz also explained why he couldn't stop drinking during the race: "If I had stopped drinking, the microphone in the helmet would have gotten wet and I would have lost communications on the radio and the whole suit would have gotten wet."

Sainz was disappointed by this problem which affected the course of the Australian race, but now looks ahead with confidence to the Bahrain GP: “Believe me, I'm not the happiest man right now. I am small details that can change the result weekend finale. And being unlucky like this is painful, but it's one more reason to look forward to this weekend and I can't wait to get on track" concluded the Spaniard.
