F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen: “Three laps at Zeltweg will be enough to regain the feeling”
“I'm fit, much more so than in Melbourne,” the Dutchman said
Unlike Ferrari and Mercedes, Red Bull has no plans to test an older car to get its drivers back on track before the official start of the season. To be honest, the Austrian team does not have the possibility to do so because the 2018 car, the last one possible to be used for this type of on track test, was powered by Renault, and without the availability of the French technicians, the RB14 can do nothing but remain in the pits. For this reason, Verstappen will not carry out any pre-season tests, but according to him it will not be a problem.
“The regulation requires using an old car with different tires to the current ones, so I decided not to do it – Verstappen said to Sky Sports DE. I think three or four laps at Zeltweg will be enough: it never takes me long to get the feeling back, because I trained a lot with my father to reach the limit as quickly as possible, and so far it has always worked well. It was a boring time, but I spent a lot of time in the simulator and worked with my personal trainer, and it went well because I had a lot of time on my hands. I think my form is better than when we went to Melbourne."
