Toto Wolff talks about the contracts of his two drivers

At the moment, neither of the two Mercedes drivers have yet signed a contract for next season, which leaves the two seats virtually free. Naturally, however, it is clear that behind the scenes the German team has been working to build the best possible lineup for next year too, which certainly includes the renewal of world champion Lewis Hamilton.

In a market that unfolded very quickly, leading to Sebastian Vettel's farewell to Ferrari with the subsequent chain reaction in McLaren and Renault, Toto Wolff has always made it clear that the decisions of the Anglo-German team on the future of their drivers would only arrive once the season had started. Nonetheless, the Austrian manager himself did not hide the fact that negotiations have continued and, although there is no rush in making an announcement, they will soon move to take the next step: “It's based on the fact that we haven't seen each other much recently . But we continued to argue. We are in a position where we trust both drivers, and although you might say that in Formula 1 that doesn't mean much, it means a lot in our team. I think we will take the next steps forward soon, but I don't want to specify a timing, because I don't want to answer questions about why the contracts were not signed at every single race. There's no rush. We all want it and when the time is right, we will announce it,” Wolff explained during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend.
