F1 | McLaren, Norris wins the podium: “We were lucky”

Lando Norris achieved his first podium of the season, in a race that saw him run practically alone. There were two crucial events in the race: Carlos Sainz's retirement and Leclerc's spin. Norris took advantage of the debacles of both Ferraris, taking third place behind Red Bull. Exceptional result for McLaren, which achieved its first podium of the season after the difficulties of the inaugural GPs.

"Third position, what a result! We certainly didn't expect it at the start of the weekend, I'm happy to finish with a podium – declared Lando after the celebrations – it was a complicated weekend, but the team recovered well, putting me in good condition for the race. My start was good and I managed to manage the tires until the end. At that point we were racing for fourth place, which would still have been a great result. We were lucky, with problems ahead, but we did what was necessary to be there and take that opportunity. Great work by the team on the track and in Woking, perfect pits and a great result. Let's go to Miami!".
