F1 | McLaren, Boullier believes in himself: "I won in all categories, we can get back to the top"

Eric boullier he is convinced he can revive the McLaren from the difficult start to the season it encountered. The transition from Honda to Renault engines did not diametrically improve the performance of the Woking car, this did nothing other than generate the first discontent and reduce the expectations of the day before: "I believe we can get back to the top" – said sporting director Boullier in Barcelona. “I have managed, revitalized and restructured several teams in the past. I won in all categories, I know my job, we have to make sure we can do it.".

The first victim of the Mclaren flop was the technical director Tim Goss, recently relieved of his duties due to the unconvincing performance of the MCL33. In any case, Boullier is confident that he can close the gap to the top teams with the current staff: “I believe in the people we have, I believe in the managers. You always want strong leadership, a good mix, trying to be as flexible as possible. They may seem like generic words, but we have to face our problems. We know what to do: improve in terms of reliability and performance. Now there are other teams with the same engine, so we have references. It's a long road, but we did a good job to recover reliability from the tests: it was another step forward”.
