F1 | McLaren, Alonso focused ahead of Mexico: "We want to forget Austin"

We bring you the statements released by Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne in view of the next Mexican Grand Prix, the nineteenth round of this 2018 Formula 1 world championship. The English Scuderia, we remember, aims to make up for Austin's serious misstep and will present itself in Mexico with the aim of placing both cars in the points.

Here are the words of Fernando Alonso: “I can't wait to fly to Mexico in a few days. The fans always manage to give us a warm welcome and like last year we will visit the city during the Day of the Dead. It's an incredible party. The atmosphere at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is unique, especially in the stadium section, where the view is overwhelming and you can get very close to the fans. I want to put the Austin race aside as quickly as possible and get back in the car for three days in Mexico."

Here are Stoffel Vandoorne's impressions: “The track in Mexico is very special because of the altitude. We manage the downforce to the maximum, but due to the altitude we drive at a lower level than in Monza. This makes the cars very difficult to drive. We will also have the hypersofts, so it will be interesting to understand their behavior."

Speaking about the track he added: “The Stadium section is incredible, with all those fans ready to support you. Last year was an extremely dense race and the fans created a unique atmosphere. Mexico City is an amazing place. Everyone is very friendly and the food is great too. I'm looking forward to a fun weekend with a positive outcome.”
