F1 | McLaren, Alonso: “With the Renault engine we believe we can be very competitive”

Great confidence shines through from the last words released by Fernando Alonso regarding the next Formula 1 World Championship. After three disastrous years, the transition from the Power Unit Honda to that Renault, in fact, has renewed enthusiasm at home McLaren: “We hope to quickly forget the last three years” – declared the Spanish ad ESPN. “It will be a completely different game for us: Next year we believe we can be very, very competitive with the Renault engine. All preparations for the new car look much more promising than before. Our hopes for next year are very high and the team's mood has completely changed.".

Compared to usual, Alonso is spending a different winter: preparing for the 24 Hours of Daytona, scheduled for this weekend, has in fact changed the plans of the two-time world champion. “I'm used to spending January and February preparing physically for the season, following training programs especially for the neck, with weights and elastic bands” – explained Alonso. “Now I have the opportunity to train and get into the racing spirit by competing with the best drivers in the world. It's a nice preparation and a good warm-up for the Formula 1 season".
