F1 | Helmut Marko: “With the new regulations McLaren will get much closer”

The budget cap will take effect in 2021, and teams will not be able to spend more than $145 million. This limit clearly facilitates those teams that are chasing the Mercedes-Red Bull-Ferrari trio, the only teams capable of winning at least one race in the era turbo-hybrid. McLaren, according to many, is the most facilitated team in this sense, while the top teams will inevitably have to reduce their resources to be able to fall within the spending cap. In this regard, Helmut Marko, consultant and talent scout for Red Bull, wanted to say about him.

“The engine change of McLaren, which will move from Renault to Mercedes next year, will make it easier for them to circumvent some homologation rules and intervene in areas closed to others.
