F1 | Haas, Steiner: “No American driver is ready for F1”. Rahal replies: “It's bullshit”
Skirmish between the team principal of the US team and the Indy Car driver
Gunther steiner leads, Graham rahal he replies. The latest statements released by the team principal of Haas ad Motorsport they didn't go down well with the American Indy Car driver: “Having an American driver is not at the top of our preferences” – said Steiner. “It would be if there was a good one. But if there was a really good one, would he come to us? An American driver unable to compete at a certain level, it wouldn't be good for the sport. Signing an American driver would be an ambition, but, in my opinion, There is currently no one ready for Formula 1 in the United States".
Graham rahal, via Twitter, responded in kind to the Italian manager: "They are complete bullshit. If Haas really believes this, why doesn't he call some of us? American pilots are damn good. There's a lot of talent here. Stay in Indy Car, in any case it's much more competitive!”. Then he continued: “Always funny, the Haas mentality: 'Americans aren't good enough', yet they didn't even give us a chance. This is not worth our time.".
The last American driver to participate in an official Formula 1 race was Alexander Rossi, who competed in five GPs with Marussia in 2015, achieving a 12th place in Austin as his best result.
