F1 | Haas, Magnussen: “Happy that the season is over”

The tormented season of Haas ended with another disastrous race, which ended in Abu Dhabi with Magnussen in fourteenth position, immediately ahead of Grosjean. After a good start, which also saw him in the points, the Dane was sucked into the big group, thanks to the well-known and very high degradation of his tyres. Romain, on the other hand, was anonymous throughout the race, and unfortunately the accident with Bottas on Friday seems to have completely compromised this weekend too. The American team finishes in ninth position, ahead of only Williams.

“I got off to a good start, again. The first lap was good – Magnussen said. Unfortunately we didn't have the same pace as the others and in the end I lost positions. Everything possible was done, I'm happy with how the team behaved, and in races like this it's very difficult to stay on track from a mental point of view even when things go wrong. We all look for even the smallest detail to do well, even madness in case a Safety Car comes out. This has been the trend all year – the team has continued to follow it, but it has been tough. We are all happy that the season is over, now we have to focus exclusively on 2020, hoping that it will be a better year."

“Difficult race – Grosjean said. I think Friday's incident with Bottas compromised today's race. We only had that bottom, we had trained for that package, but we had to change all the specs and go back to the old setup. I need to work on starts, it was a big weakness of mine this year: if we were to qualify well in 2020, I need to have better shots. The guys on the team did a good job, we just didn't have the pace. Let's hope that next year the story will be much better."
