F1 | Haas, Guenther Steiner confident: “We have a lot to work on”
The words of the team principal after the first round of the 1 F2020 World Championship
The 2020 season of the Haas team led by Guenther Steiner starts with some difficulties. The Italian team principal finds himself having to deal with overheating and braking system problems of the VF-20, problems that hark back to the past and which, for now, don't seem to worry too much. Kevin Magnussen abandoned the race during the first phase, going off the track and spinning due to the lack of brakes, fortunately without impacting the barriers. Romain Grosjean, however, brought the car back to the pits in complete safety.
A shame for Haas, who saw the possibility of bringing both cars into the points.
"Obviously, it didn't go as we hoped. We had a brake problem due to both cars overheating. This is what led us to retire, despite there being a good chance of getting into the points” explained Guenther Steiner, who knows he has to keep his feet on the ground.
"But you can't work with ifs and buts. The positive thing is that both Romain and Kevin seemed satisfied, as far as possible, with the car. The car seemed to have good pace, so we feel like we missed a good opportunity. If we work hard, we can reach the points soon, and that's what we will do".
We'll see if Haas will be able to solve its problems next weekend for the second round of the world championship at the Red Bull Ring, for the Styrian Grand Prix.
