Both Guenther Steiner drivers suffered brake problems

F1 | Haas, double retirement, Grosjean: “We must find a solution”

Double retirement, unfortunately, for the Haas team: Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen were both forced to abandon the Austrian Grand Prix due to some problems with the braking system of the VF-20. A shame for Guenther Steiner's team , which finds itself with zero points after the first race.

"The brakes are gone, we tried to preserve them from the first lap, but nothing could be done” explained Grosjean, who brought his car back to the pits on the fiftieth lap.

"Obviously, something is wrong with the cooling, so we have to work on it and fix the problem for next week. I think one of the already big concerns is the race pace, it was really difficult to manage the car, especially in traffic. We will study the machine and hope to solve it. We must arrive at next weekend with better solutions".

More dramatic retirement for Kevin Magnussen, who during the fight with Esteban Ocon, Renault, lost his car and almost hit the wall.

"We tried to save fuel to preserve the brakes. I did everything, but they still exploded. It happened when Esteban (Ocon) attacked me. We didn't expect so many problems with the braking system, we knew we would have to hold back so as not to damage them too much, but not to this extent. Probably some debris made the situation worse. we were in eleventh position, and if it hadn't been for the brakes, we would have even had a decent race pace".
