F1 | Haas, disappointing qualifying, Grosjean and Magnussen focus everything on race pace

They expected it at Haas, and in fact it wasn't a brilliant qualifying for Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. The Frenchman managed to get into Q2, however stopping in fifteenth position at the end of the session. Next to him on the grid will be his teammate Kevin Magnussen, sixteenth.

"We knew before the green light that our qualifying pace wasn't as good as we'd hoped, but it's in line with what we saw during testing in Barcelona – explained Romain Grosjean, fifteenth – the positive thing is the race pace, which seems to be better, so I'm obviously hoping to have some good battles tomorrow, and to have fun on the track. There is obviously a lot of work to do on the car to get us some speed, but we saw some potential. We will continue to work, keep our heads down and see how it goes".

Even more disappointed was Kevin Magnussen, who finished his qualifying session in Q1.

"We couldn't qualify where we wanted to. My hopes were high, as were the team's. It's a little disappointing to find ourselves out already in Q1, but that's all we could do. Sixteenth position is not ideal. I did my best, I think it was a decent lap too, but it's not easy. At the moment, it seems like other teams are ahead of us. We have worked to improve the car and will continue to do so, we are focused on tomorrow's race. Our race pace yesterday wasn't that terrible, especially when compared to qualifying times. We need something more. I'm hopeful and will do my best for the race."
