F1 GP Australia, Free Practice 2: it's Hamilton again

It is again Lewis Hamilton to dictate the tempo in the second session Free tests on Friday. The pilot of the Mercedes he set the best time thirty minutes from the end and on his first flying lap, after having calmly waited the rest of the time in the pits.

News – The green light comes on but no one comes out of the pits, while the Albert Park track is tormented by rain and strong winds. After the first twenty minutes, Daniel Ricciardo is the most daring, who after a few minutes sets the first time: 1:49.017, while Rosberg and Kvyat go to keep him company. The German set the best time, 1:47.356, but was immediately overtaken by Kvyat, in 1:44.288.

After the first thirty minutes, Rosberg loses the rear at turn 7 and ends up against the wall, damaging the front wing. The VSC enters the scene while the German, after an initial attempt to return to the pits with the wing half detached, parks on the side of the track on his orders.
So far there are seven timed drivers, all on intermediate compounds: Sainz, the fastest in 1:42.902, Kvyat, Rosberg, Ricciardo, Button, Alonso, Wehrlein and Haryanto. Alonso took the lead in 1:41.694, immediately adjusted to 1:40.763 and then to 1:39.895. Halfway through the session the Oviedo driver leads the group followed by Sainz, Perez, Hulkenberg, Kvyat, Wehrlein, Raikkonen, Rosberg, Ricciardo, Button and Haryanto. Sainz takes the lead in 1:39.786 but then it's Raikkonen's turn to dictate the pace in 1:39.486.

With just over thirty minutes to go, Magnussen, Palmer, Grosjean, Ericsson, Nasr, Massa, Verstappen, Hamilton and Bottas are still without a time.
Raikkonen continues to lead the group followed by Ricciardo, Sainz, Alonso, Button, Vettel, Perez, Hulkenberg, Gutierrez, Wehrlein, Kvyat, Haryanto and Rosberg.
Starting test for Hamilton who then launches himself in pursuit of the best time and obtains it immediately, 1:38.841.
Fifteen minutes from the end the rain began to wet some parts of the track again, with Sainz protagonist of a long run in turn 1. Hulkenberg meanwhile achieved the second best time, while Kvyat rose to tenth place.

Sauber and Verstappen ended the session without having taken part. The track conditions are again very slippery, with the checkered flag waving giving Hamilton also the second practice session, while Sainz snatches the fifth fastest time from Alonso on a razor's edge.
