F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: "I improved in race management, it was one of my strong points in 2021"

What Ferrari experienced was without a shadow of a doubt a positive 2021 if compared to the performances of the previous year, where the Ferrari, also conditioned by the agreement with the FIA for the power unit issue, struggled terribly, not going beyond sixth place in the constructors' category. In the last season the improvements were visible, but clearly they were not enough to significantly reduce the gap from Mercedes and Red Bull, as well as those of the drivers.

In this regard, Charles Leclerc admitted how compared to 2020 he improved his management over the weekend and more precisely in the race where he manages to work better than in the past.

"Definitely the management of the race in general – declared Leclerc, quoted by RacingNews365 – I think, from the beginning of 2020, I started to say that it was one of my weaknesses, especially after 2019, where I did a lot of good qualifying, but then in the race I struggled a little more. We fought more as a team and as a driver. I worked on it a lot in 2020 and got better. In 2021 it was one of my highlights. I feel like I'm doing a good job in tire management too".

Leclerc, completing his analysis, then admitted: “There is still a lot to work on. Maybe a balance from qualifying to the race that I probably haven't found yet. Sometimes I sacrifice my qualifying a little more to be better in the race, as we've seen a few times this season, but it's a balance I'm working on".
