F1 | Bottas: “Quite a challenging race”
"Towards the end we had some problems with the fuel, which is why Max came closer"
A difficult race but it ended with second place for Valtteri Bottas in Canadian GP. The pilot Mercedes, after a wheel-to-wheel start with Verstappen, managed to hold on to his position until the checkered flag, despite the pressure from the Red Bull, who came third just one tenth behind the Finn. Here are her statements at the end of the day.
“From the first lap Sebastian seemed the fastest. They controlled the match and pushed when needed. We also did the same, but we also ran into a bit of trouble towards the end with the fuel, so Max came close."
“I think what we did today was the best in terms of the engine. Yesterday it was a matter of a hundredth, maybe starting from pole it could have been different however, given our starting position, we made the most of the opportunity and I'm quite happy therefore, even if we didn't win".
“At the start I started from the right side of the track, where there wasn't great grip. Most of the races here are done with rolling starts, so that part was devoid of grip. I had a bit of spin at the start, Max took the inside and I tried to maintain the position for turn two. I think we even touched slightly, but it went well: I maintained second place, after which it was a rather challenging race."
