F1 | Bottas excited for his return to racing: "Never been in such good shape"
"It will be a very special season," said the Mercedes Finn
Despite the three-month stoppage caused by the Coronavirus emergency, Valtteri Bottas he said he was ready to face the 15-18 events that will make up the next 2020 Formula 1 world championship.
Thanks to a series of targeted training sessions during the "lockdown", the Finn managed to significantly improve his physical fitness, an aspect that could help him in the internal fight with Lewis Hamilton to win the championship.
“Three or four weeks ago I took a physical fitness test, which I usually do once or twice a year. It turned out to be the best of my life." said Valtteri Bottas. “As a rider, normally, you don't have that many months to focus on your physical condition. Something like this can only happen during the winter break."
“Thanks to this long break I was very systematic in training and it was incredible to see how good I felt,” continued the Finn. “Obviously it will be a very special season since it will be shorter than expected. Every mistake will cost more than before and it will all be based on consistency."
“As far as I'm concerned I feel like I'm more complete. Physically I am reaching the top of my form and now I hope that this can translate into results. I'm very confident. I'm in a good place and I know I have a chance." he concluded.
