The 36-year-old Spaniard believes that his path will hardly be followed: "The other drivers don't have this vision of racing"

F1 | Alonso: “I am involved on multiple fronts only thanks to Zak Brown and McLaren”

Fernando Alonso he considers himself a "white fly" within the paddock: the choice, in some ways questionable, to shift his attention to other automotive series, according to the Spaniard, will not be taken as an example by his colleagues. “I doubt that could happen, because in Europe we normally concentrate everything on just one championship" – declared the McLaren driver. “The teams have become more and more professional, there are a lot of training programs and you have to spend a lot of time in the simulator before the Formula 1 winter tests. I don't think so, but for pilots it is not easy to escape from that concept".

As it stands, the only driver to take the same path as Alonso was Lance stroll, who at the end of the month will participate, together with the two-time world champion, in the 24 Hours of Daytona: “Maybe he's just here because he loves racing and he's from Canada; this type of competition and the American championships are part of his culture” – explained the former Ferrari driver.

If Alonso has the opportunity to compete on multiple fronts, however, it is only thanks to McLaren's flexibility: "I can do this because Zak Brown and McLaren perhaps have a different vision, a slightly broader vision of motorsport, which I share: we are expanding the McLaren brand together. I think it's difficult for other Formula 1 drivers to have this vision.".
