F1 | Alfa Romeo, Sprint useful as a test for the race

THEAlfa Romeo decided to take advantage of the 100km of Sprint Racand as a test for Sunday's race. Valtteri Bottas e Zhou Guangyu in fact, they both found themselves at the bottom of the standings for the Sprint - the Finn was excluded in Q1, while Zhou managed to get himself into fifteenth position. From there, the two were only able to battle at the back, with Bottas managing to advance from eighteenth to sixteenth position.

“The only positive thing about Sprint is having collected quite a bit of data on the behavior of the medium tyres, useful information for the race – revealed the Finn – I believe that our problems essentially derive from the Shootout, where we couldn't even do a clean lap; I already felt more competitive in the sprint and I also managed to engage in battles on the track, recovering a couple of positions. I feel more comfortable on long runs and I think our pace has improved. For the race we will start thirteenth and I am sure that, if we work well, we can have a chance of getting back into the top 10."

Problems for Zhou instead: fifteenth on the grid, the Chinese slips to seventeenth due to a gearbox problem.

“Although today was an anomalous situation, I would say that it was still complicated: we missed the pace and moreover I had a gear synchronization problem at the start, and so I lost ground. However, we decided to use the Sprint Race as a test for the race, and in fact we collected a lot of data to analyze. We're struggling a bit with the pace compared to our opponents, but we'll try to catch up. I'm convinced that we can fight for the points, we showed we have the potential on Friday and, with a better starting position, we hope to be able to build a good race."
