F1 | Alfa Romeo, Antonio Giovinazzi finishes just outside the points

With just one more lap the Apulian could have overtaken Ocon's Alpine, placing himself in the top ten

F1 | Alfa Romeo, Antonio Giovinazzi finishes just outside the points

Antonio Giovinazzi finishes the Turkish Grand Prix one step away from the points, literally. The Italian driver, thanks to the penalties of others, starts from sixteenth position and immediately recovers at the start, placing himself in twelfth. He slowly gets closer and closer to the points zone until, once in tenth position, the team calls him back to change tires on the forty-first lap. Antonio returns to twelfth behind Daniel Ricciardo, who suddenly collapses towards the end and gives way to Alfa Romeo, who starts chasing Esteban Ocon. There are very few meters between Antonio and the Alpine, but Valtteri Bottas crosses the finish line and the two cars, lapped, reach the end of the race without the possibility of a collision: Giovinazzi finishes in twelfth position.

"We were only one lap away from getting into the points, it's really frustrating – said Antonio – the race wasn't bad, it's a shame we started from the back after yesterday's qualifying, it made everything more difficult. We gave our best, but unfortunately it wasn't enough, there was less than a second left. We have had a good pace in the last few races, so let's focus on getting back into the points in the next race in Austin ".
