Button happy with McLaren: "Let's hope we don't have any more rain in Singapore"

Jenson Button ended Friday's F1 Singapore Grand Prix with the third fastest time behind the two Red Bulls. The McLaren Mercedes world champion said he was happy with his car but hopes for a dry weekend as the track proved to be very treacherous today.

“We did a reasonable number of laps in FP2, and the car worked quite well. There are still some improvements to make, but I feel comfortable” commented Button at the end of Friday's free practice.

“We saw today that, after the rain, the track doesn't dry very quickly, and a lot of water remains on the track. It's quite tricky, it's difficult to see which parts of the track are wet due to the reflections. Let's hope we don't have any more rain this weekend, because it's not nice to drive in the wet,” explained Button regarding the track conditions in the wet.

“Our long run pace looks good, but it's tough here with the high fuel loads, we've never ridden here with these levels of fuel loads. Tomorrow's qualifying will focus on finding a clear track, if you encounter traffic, you have to keep pushing, especially in Q1, when the circuit will be busier” concluded Button.
