Pedro de la Rosa has no doubts about his future

Peter of the Rose he has no doubts that he will remain at HRT also for the 2013 season.

The Spanish driver, who joined the Madrid-based team this year, has another year left on his contract and was confirmed directly by team principal Perez-Sala.

De la Rosa said he was happy with his team, despite the lack of competitiveness which leads the driver to fight in the last positions.

“There is no news about my future. I have another year on my contract and I have always seen this experience as a minimum two-year project because in F1 it is difficult to start from 0" the Spaniard declared to Autosport.

“So I think the second year will be better and that's why I want to stay another year. That's all I have to say. I don't know what the team will do with my teammate but I know that I will stay here."

“I have a contract, and the team is happy with me and I'm happy with the team. I want to see him grow. It would be a joke to start from scratch again. I feel very good".

When asked about the possibility of being replaced by a paying driver, de la Rosa replied: "I would be surprised if the team did something like that."

De la Rosa, who next year will become the oldest driver on the grid given that Michael Schumacher will retire, insists that HRT's goal for 2013 is to continue to make progress and contend with Caterham and Marussia.

“We want to continue fighting with them, which are the teams in front of us and then perhaps also with the others who are many more though. We have to fight with Marussia and Caterham, but we also need to close the gap to pole position."

“We should be closer and keep Marussia and Caterham as logical rivals. This is the purpose. We have to work hard and now we have a new structure to do it."

De la Rosa said the team now has a staff of 83.
