Heidfeld believes in a seat for 2011

Nick Heidfeld is optimistic about the possibility of finding a steering wheel for next season. The thirty-three year old German returned to the Circus at the wheel of Sauber during the Singapore Grand Prix but the Swiss team has already chosen Kobayashi and Perez as drivers for 2011.

Heidfeld has had talks with several teams but does not have a budget to devote to encouraging his hiring. During an interview for Autosport Nick said: “I think I will still be on the grid next year, but I can't be 100% sure. Unfortunately, at the moment in Formula One not only are driving skills, talent and speed evaluated, but other factors also play a decisive role. I don't have support like the others, we are talking to some sponsors who say they are interested but first they want to see the team I would drive for."

Heidfeld has recently had talks with Force India, Renault and Williams and would like to join a team with growth potential and not a back-of-the-grid team: “I think it's easy to understand which teams interest me. I'm not yet ready to go to a team that's too slow, for example. The new teams are doing a great job but I have no intention of going there."
