Formula 1 | De Meo challenges Ferrari: "Alpine wants fourth place in the Constructors' Championship"

Formula 1 Alpine De Meo – After the third place achieved by Esteban Ocon in Monte Carlo and the double placing in the points obtained in Barcelona (Ocon 8th, Pierre Gasly 10th), Luca de meo does not intend to back down on the French team's seasonal objective, which is to confirm fourth place in the Constructors' World Championship.

The Italian Manager, speaking on "La Politica del Pallone" on Rai Gr Parliament, did not hide his expectations for the current year, specifying how every single member of the team in Enstone and Viry is giving their all to guarantee the pilots a car capable of stably competing for the top positions on the grid. Important words that confirm the ambition of the current Renault CEO on a sporting level.

Alpine, we remember, currently occupies fifth place in the Constructors' World Championship and is 60 points behind Ferrari, currently fourth, (40 against 100). Red Bull, Aston Martin and Mercedes are further away.

“Last year we finished in fourth place and we had set ourselves the objective of reducing the gap to third place,” said De Meo. “Today we are fifth and at the moment it is difficult to confirm what we achieved last year. In any case, however, we don't want to give up, also because we know that the differences are minimal. The riders are doing an excellent job, even if the start of the season was complicated."

“Ours is a long-term project and it is nice to achieve important results like the one we achieved in Monte Carlo,” he continued. “We are aware that maintaining this standard is not easy, but it is what we want to achieve. We aim to compete with Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes. We still have a lot of work to do, which is obvious, but Alpine is there to stay and we are happy to be part of this small club that is committed to this discipline."
