F1 | The Madrid GP will take place: announcement expected this week

The announcement of the Madrid Grand Prix on the Formula 1 calendar starting from 2026 is expected this week. After months of negotiations and work in the shadows, in the next few days, as confirmed by OK Diario, the new stage will be made official. The race will take place on a city circuit which will have IFEMA as its epicenter and will cross the Valdebebas area. The Montmeló Circuit has a contract to host the Spanish GP up to and including 2026 and there will be two races in Spain. The reluctance of Liberty Media, the promoter of the event, to hold two races in Spain makes it difficult for Barcelona to renew its contract with F1.

The Formula 1 Madrid Grand Prix had been in the works for some time and in recent months there has been the final acceleration. The capital of Spain wanted a competition and will finally have it after more than 40 years. The announcement had been expected for months and even more so after the Official Journal of Industrial Property (BOPI) reported on March 28 that Formula 1 had registered the Madrid Grand Prix.

And that's not all because it seems that the CEO of F1 Stefano Domenicali and MotoGP, Carmelo Ezpeleta, are even working on a plan to have two events on the same track on the same weekend.
