Maldonado: “We are competitive, it will be a hard-fought race”

Williams confirms itself among the fastest teams in Monaco

The Venezuelan still shines in free practice in Monte Carlo, after the unexpected victory in Spain, but the road is still uphill for his teammate Bruno Senna
Maldonado: “We are competitive, it will be a hard-fought race”

Williams was expected to demonstrate that it was not a flash in the pan, after the victory at the Spanish GP and confirmed, at least with the Venezuelan Maldonado, fourth in the morning and fifth in FP2, that it is also in excellent shape in Monte Carlo .

“Our car went really well this year in Monaco and looks competitive in the racing simulation we did today, so we're happy”, explained Pastor Maldonado. “It's just a shame that we weren't able to shoot as much during the afternoon, due to the rain. We would have liked to have collected a little more tire data, but we still have FP3 on Saturday. I love this circuit and I think it will be a hard-fought race, in which we can have our say", continued the Venezuelan.

If Maldonado has become a big name and shines for his consistency, Bruno Senna still struggles terribly with the FW34. “It was good to be able to do both sessions today, it meant we were able to learn a few things.", explained Ayrton's nephew. “It's been a few years since I raced at this track, so it was nice to have more time to remember the track. The rain hindered us a bit, but we will try to put what we learned to good use for Saturday's free practice.", concluded the Brazilian.
