Sauber out of the points in Abu Dhabi
Sauber failed to score points during the last world championship trip to Abu Dhabi. The Swiss team was hoping for a last race weekend to remember, the minimum objective was the points zone.
Nick Heidfeld, 11th: “My start was good and I managed to pass Kubica but I lost my position when I had to avoid Schumacher and Liuzzi after their accident, after which I got stuck in traffic. We had agreed to pit immediately in this case, the move was good since it allowed me to get behind Massa but overtaking him was impossible. It would have been nice to score points in the last race, congratulations to the new world champion."
Kamui Kobayashi, 14th: “I'm very disappointed, I absolutely wanted to finish in the points. I did what I could, the car was okay but we had little luck with the strategy. I made a good start and gained two positions but then I was never able to go at full speed, I was always blocked by someone. Congratulations to Vettel for his great success."
Peter Sauber, team boss, compliments the team on how the championship was contested but underlines that the lack of reliability of the engines at the beginning of the season penalized the team a lot. Everything postponed to next year with a new sponsor and new capital.
