Rocquelin talks about Red Bull: “We never looked for performance”

The good performances of Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat certainly did not change the plans inside the Red Bull garage: Guillaume Rocquelin, head of the track engineers of the Milton Keynes Scuderia, explained that the drivers never looked for performance in the last four days of work at Montmelò.

The main objective of the squadron led by Chris Horner has always been to test the reliability of the RB11, a result which seems to have been fully achieved. Red Bull will test pure performance only at Barcelona 2 and only there will we see the real potential of the new car designed by Adrian Newey.

Here are the words of Guillaume Rocquelin: “As far as we are concerned, in this first test session in Barcelona we were never looking for performance, we were interested in completing something else. We wanted consistency and reliability and I think we achieved our goals. We also worked on the pit stop tests, focusing on some procedures to ensure that the mechanics do not have any inconveniences during the weekends."

“We managed to do everything we expected and this puts us in a good position ahead of the final tests, during which we hope to be able to start working in terms of performance” he concluded.
