The second phase of Bernie Ecclestone's plan to control and reduce the number of radio communications between garage and driver has surprisingly been suspended. Despite the many changes made by the teams to the steering wheel consoles (Red Bull and Williams have introduced the LCD display. ed.), the Strategy Group has decided to stop the "radio ban" measure, confirming the rules used during the past season. A curious choice that confirms the great confusion that reigns between the Federation itself and the teams. The provision will allow the engineers to intervene, with suggestions to the pilots, in the event of technical problems with the power unit.

However, all communications regarding general driving and time comparisons with other competitors on the track will be banned. Furthermore, it will not be possible to ask for some specific commands of the power unit, the balance of the brakes of your teammate and all that information regarding the comparison between two drivers on the track (braking points compared to other drivers, comparison of data or times in sectors of the track , comparing cornering speed, accelerator use compared to other drivers and use of DRS compared to another driver).
