Nelson Piquet: I'm positive after Bahrain

Nelson, we are a quarter of the way through the 2009 season. Now we return to Europe for the Spanish Grand Prix…
Nelson Piquet: "It was a difficult start for me, but I think I learned a lot from the first four races. The wet races in Malaysia and China were quite frustrating and we couldn't really judge the performance of the car, while in Bahrain I was been more positive with the new diffuser. It would have been nice to finish in the points, but all the cars are very competitive and reliable this year and so finishing tenth was probably the best possible result."

Barcelona is probably the track you know best. Do you like racing on this circuit?
Nelson Piquet: "It's the circuit I know best but it's not one of my favourites, because it doesn't represent a particular challenge for the drivers. You just need good aerodynamics and a well-balanced package to cope with the high-speed corners It's difficult to overtake, so it's necessary to have a good strategy for the race. Barcelona is also very demanding on the tires and so we need to see the behavior of the two compounds in Friday's free practice."

How much has the R29 improved since the beginning of the year?
Nelson Piquet: "We have definitely improved the car by fitting the new diffuser and the team has done a great job reacting quickly and improving the car. We had an update to the front wing in Bahrain and the car is now much easier to drive compared to the beginning of the year. I know that the whole team is working very hard to find greater performance and now that we are back in Europe it will be easier to bring new developments into the race."
