Montezemolo: “Sad to see Schumi like this”

After a discreet period of silence Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has returned to speak like a river in flood of F1.

In particular, during an interview with Sky Italia, the former President Ferrari he recalled some relevant episodes Schumacher, a driver who more than any other has marked the modern history of the Scuderia.

“When Michael stopped racing he still wanted speed, to continue feeling the asphalt, so much so that he took part in motorbike races. Unfortunately, however, he had a bad accident and this prevented him from getting back behind the wheel of the Red to replace Massa in 2009 – declared the current Alitalia boss revealing an unknown detail – At that moment we had already signed with Alonso, he was out of action for three months, then Ross Brawn approached him at the Abu Dhabi GP and made him the offer for Mercedes. He was like a child whose toy had been taken away, which led him to accept, in my opinion wrongly, without too much hesitation."

So on Kaiser's sad day, stuck in bed after his skiing fall on 29 December 2013 and consequently light years away from his standard as a man with sport in his blood, he commented: "When I see him I get a lump in my throat and I'm really sorry because he was a very important person in my professional life."
