Mercedes, Nico Rosberg: “The new rules can generate surprises on the track”

Among the rules adopted for the new F1 season, three important innovations stand out: the new qualifying format, the new regulation on Pirelli tires and the restriction of communications (team radio) between the drivers and their track engineers. For Nico Rosberg, these innovations could bring new scenarios to life, generating surprising results on the track.

"I think these changes can breathe new life into F1 – said Keke's son while chatting with journalists present in the Melbourne paddock – . The primary objective is to have more unpredictable races, with different results than in the past. With the rule changes, I think we could see some surprises this year".

"The qualification – teacher Rosberg -  it could prove to be a real trap for some drivers. It's not a given that the fastest car will always start on pole. The same goes for the tyres, the best performing car will not triumph on all circuits.  Sometimes it will be the driver who has made the right decision on the type of tire to use, because it will not be possible to predict the evolution of the tires before each race. I'm sure that all these changes will bring benefits to F1".
