McLaren, Boullier: “Honda has made important steps forward”
The Woking racing director praised the Japanese manufacturer's winter work
The ordeal suffered in 2015 will always be just a distant and faded memory. For Eric Boullier, Honda, which has powered the Woking single-seaters since last season, worked hard over the winter, bringing important improvements to its power unit.
In this second tranche of testing at Montmelò, a new (evolved) engine was mounted on the MP4-31, compared to the basic one from last week. Engine that could be used by the Woking team in the first Grand Prix of the season in Australia.
"What can I say, the progress is evident – declared Boullier -. There is a clear improvement. All this is encouraging, because it means that we have greater potential than in the past".
"This is just the beginning. We have to run a higher mileage, to understand how to best use the engine. So far the impressions are positive. This new power unit allows us to benefit more power,” concluded the McLaren racing director.
