Massa: “We hope to take points away from Fernando's opponents”

Massa: “We hope to take points away from Fernando's opponents”

I arrive in Abu Dhabi this evening, after leaving Sao Paulo on Monday evening. Apart from the pleasure of racing in Brazil in front of my fans there is little pleasant to remember about this weekend.

Qualifying didn't go well and then the wing nut problem during my pit stop practically wrote the final word on my race, as I had to immediately return to the pits and found myself at the back of the group. If it wasn't for that, I think I could have finished the race in the top five, which would have been a good result.

From that moment on, it was very tough, with many cars in front of me and there were phases where the traffic made the situation very confusing. For example, at a certain point Rosberg let me pass and I didn't understand why: there were riders fighting with each other but on two different laps and then the blue flags weren't easy to manage. When the safety car came in everything became even more complicated. In my opinion it was better when, under neutralization, the lapped cars could double up: the race was more interesting. It certainly would have been at Interlagos, given that there were several cars between Fernando and Webber and between Hamilton and Fernando.

Now let's focus on the future rather than the past. We are on the eve of the last race of the season, in Abu Dhabi. It will be a completely new track for me because I wasn't able to race there last year. I tested it on the simulator and trained until yesterday with a video game at home in Brazil: I have enough information even if there is always a difference between the virtual and the real. Even though I didn't take part in the inaugural edition of this Grand Prix, I was present at the circuit and was able to verify that the facility is fantastic. For Ferrari it is a special appointment because the company and the team itself have strong ties with this country through sponsors such as Mubadala and Etihad and, now, also with the theme park, located near the circuit. Since I will be staying in Abu Dhabi for a week after the race, as there are tests with the young drivers and the test with the Pirelli tyres, I hope to have time to visit this facility: I'm sure it will be a very fun experience.

As for the Pirelli test, I can't wait to experiment with the new tires to understand the differences with the Bridgestone ones, which have been extraordinary partners for many years. They will be two very important days to get an idea of the behavior of the tires before the winter break.

Ferrari is still fighting for the Drivers' title and I really hope to be able to fight for the top positions. If I manage to bring home a good placing, taking it away from Fernando's rivals, I will be able to be useful in his bid for the championship.
