Maldonado: “Williams ok today, but we can still improve”

Williams was, together with Force India, among the happiest surprises of the first day of free practice at the European GP. The English car dominated FP1 with Pastor Maldonado, and confirmed itself in FP2 with fifth place for Bruno Senna.

“It was a good day and we managed to carry out our test programme”, explained the Brazilian, finally living up to his name with a car that was very competitive, especially in testing and qualifying. “It would have been useful to have done a few more kilometers, but we still collected a lot of important data. We're getting closer to where we need to be, so I'm happy with how today went.", commented the grandson of the great Ayrton.

Two-sided free throws for Maldonado instead: the first half in the morning was followed by the 13th in the afternoon. “We completed our test program today and are satisfied”, said the Venezuelan. “The track was very slippery at the start of the day, as expected, but the grip level increased throughout each session. The car was fast and very competitive, but we lost some time in our short runs this afternoon. We need to understand the car setup a little better and predict how the track conditions will change tomorrow. The car is going well, but we still need to improve", warned the winner of the Spanish GP.
