Maldonado and Senna: “We will get points again in Valencia”

Pastor Maldonado wants to return to the points at the European Grand Prix, after a terrible month without results for the winner of the Spanish GP.

The Venezuelan from Williams was the victim of an accident at the Monaco Grand Prix since the triumph in Barcelona and finished 13th at the Canadian Grand Prix: but Maldonado believes that pace will be the key in Valencia this weekend. “The European GP is a challenge for the drivers because it combines a city track that is used all year round by normal road cars with sections of real track and it is difficult for us to achieve the ideal set up", said the South American. “The layout is quite fast with some long straights, but there are also some slow corners and certainly finding the right balance will be essential to do well. We are constantly developing the car and it is showing good pace in the long runs: we hope to be able to improve on the disappointing results of the last two races and collect valid good results for the classification."

Teammate Bruno Senna echoed the Venezuelan in his impressions of the Spanish circuit. “Street circuits are always difficult for a driver and Valencia is certainly no different, it requires great speed on the straights combined with an efficient braking system to tackle the corners” said the Brazilian. “Our pace in Canada did not reflect the potential of the cars, but we have worked hard to understand the reasons for these problems and hopefully we can put them behind us”, concluded Senna. Maldonado is currently 10th in the Drivers' standings with 29 points, while Senna is 13th with 15 points.
