Indy 500 | Franchitti: “Alonso did an excellent job in the rookie test”

In a press event held inside the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, Dario Franchitti expressed his opinion on Fernando Alonso's choice to tackle the next Indinanapolis 500. According to the former Ganassi team driver, experience is a crucial factor in a race of this type and the Spaniard will have to try to learn as many things as possible over the next two weeks. In any case, Franchitti underlined the excellent work done by the team in the "Rookie Orientation", explaining that the Spaniard's talent will help him achieve a good result in the most important category in the world.

Here are Franchitti's words: “The 500 Miglia is a very complex race where concentration, talent and above all experience are needed. This is a crucial factor especially when a few laps from the end a yellow flag appears and everyone comes back to put on new tires and fight for the victory. Fernando will have to learn as much as he can from the next two weeks, but the work done during the rookie test was excellent and I am sure he will be able to do his best. Furthermore, he will take part in the race with an important team and will have teammates who will be able to give him the right advice. It's difficult, but he is the only one who can succeed in this feat”.
