The Baku city layout ready for approval by the Federation

The Baku track is ready to host the first edition of the European GP in Azerbaijan. In an interview given to motorsport. com, Arif Rahimov, head of the Baku GP project, explained that the street circuit that winds through the Azerbaijani capital is ready for approval by the International Automobile Federation and that in the next few days there could be important innovations precisely in this sense.

Over the past weekend, the race organizers left for Budapest where they met with Bernie Ecclestone and Charlie Whiting to discuss the final details related to this project.

The FIA inspection is expected to arrive in the next few weeks and only then will the green light be given for the first Formula One Grand Prix in Azerbaijan. We remind you that the track was designed by Hermann Tilke and is profoundly different from the one used by the FIA GT.

Here are the words of Arif Rahimov: “The route has been finalized and is ready for approval by the International Federation. We need to work out a few small details, but nothing overly complex. Everything will be ready for Charlie Whiting's inspection and we look forward to hosting the Grand Prix in the city of Baku. We had a very positive meeting in Budapest precisely in this sense."

Rahimov continued by talking about the initiatives that the organization is launching to increase the interest of Azerbaijanis towards Formula One: “The track will offer several overtaking points and we are sure that it will be a very spectacular event. We are also working on some projects to increase the population's interest in the Circus. We are pushing a lot on young people and therefore on marketing and radio broadcasts."

“We have a lot of things in the pipeline, but overall I'm quite optimistic. This country will have its own motorsport culture and Azerbaijan will remain on the calendar for a long time” he concluded
