Helmut Marko: “I believe in Vettel for the world title”

Vettel-Hamilton, the great challenge. This was precisely the duel that thrilled Formula 1 fans in the first part of the season, following the technical battle between Ferrari and Mercedes, capable of leaving only crumbs to the competition.

Thanks to one SF70H which proved to be an extremely fast and high-performance single-seater, the German from Ferrari finally had the opportunity to actually fight for the championship. Great consistency, numerous podiums and four successes allowed him to reach the summer break with 14 points of advantage right on the rival of Mercedes, making the challenge even more lively and exciting for the second part of the championship: a comparison that will be played on the mental strength of the two contenders and on the updates brought by the respective teams for their cars.

Helmut Marko, Red Bull advisor and discoverer of young talents, knows Sebastian like few others, having accompanied him throughout the course of his career, from the minor series to the four world titles won from 2010 to 2013. A long collaboration and friendship that has led Marko to discover the strengths and weaknesses of German. Precisely for this reason, in an interview with the official Formula 1 website, the Red Bull advisor bet on Vettel as the 2017 world champion, focusing on the mental strength that the four-time world champion has always shown in the second part of season.

"I believe in Vettel, because I know how mentally strong he is. Furthermore, Ferrari has upped the ante” – said the Austrian manager – “I would say that Silverstone was an exception, because Ferrari had the strongest car in the first part of the season and only due to some unfortunate circumstances it failed to capitalize on its full potential. Seb will use the summer break to rest and come back even stronger! This is the Sebastian I know."
