GP Italia, the mayor of Monza does not lose hope: "The 2016 edition will not be the last held on the Brianza track"

The historic Monza track will also host F1 in the future. The mayor of the Brianza city Roberto Scanagatti is convinced of this. The agreement between FOM, Bernie Ecclestone's company that manages the rights to the premier class of motorsport, and the organizers of the Autodromo has not yet been reached. In the event that the negotiations are not successful, Imola or Mugello could take over in place of Monza.

"I'm sure - said Scanegatti a La Gazzetta dello Sport – that the 2016 edition will not be the last Italian Grand Prix to be held in Monza. The contract will expire this year and negotiations are currently still underway to renew the presence of our circuit in the calendar. A Formula 1 championship without historic tracks such as Monaco, Silverstone and Monza is truly inconceivable".

"As in every negotiation – continued the mayor of Monza – there are tactics that are used by the parties. But I am sure that a solution will be found soon in the interests of F1. It is not possible to imagine F1 without Monza".

Yesterday, the president of Lombardy Roberto Maroni met Bernie Ecclestone to discuss the future of Monza. Flavio Briatore and Fabrizio Sala also participated in the conversation. “It was a cordial meeting – reports a note from the Region – in which the future of the Monza Grand Prix was discussed".
